12:39 am	Vladimir Harkonnen 80% Evil, 75% Intelligence, 90% Common Sense The Baron Vladimir Harkonnen is the ruthless, cunning, and grossly overweight head of House Harkonnen. Under his leadership, House Harkonnen gained enormous amounts of wealth and power, the most important of which is mining rights on the desert world of Arrakis, which is probably the most lucrative industry potentially available among any of the Great Houses. For it is upon Arrakis that Melange -- Spice -- is mined and processed for distribution to the entire galaxy. The Baron, being the ever-scheming individual, devised a plan that saw control of Arrakis transferred to House Atredies as part of a plot between the Baron and the then-current Emperor, both of whom sought to diminish the influence and power of the Atredies line. The scheme, of course, ended in abject failure and ultimately led to the death of the Baron, the fall of the Emperor, and a shift in galactic politics down a radically different path under the rule of Muad'dib. Harkonnen earns high marks in evilness due to his iron-fisted management of House Harkonnen and Arrakis. He scores moderately in intelligence for his cunning nature and use of available resources, as well as high marks in common sense for his strategies in various political schemes.
